About Me
Employment law specialist
- A South Islander by upbringing, I have practised law in Auckland for over thirty years.
- After many years operating as a civil litigator, I made the move in 1999 to become a barrister sole, specialising in employment and medico-legal law. I have represented many recognised kiwi organisations, including Carter Holt Harvey, TVNZ, Trustpower, Mitre 10, Care Advantage and Coastguard NZ. I also act for employees, in all occupations and at all levels of seniority. I have appeared in the District Court, High Court, the Employment Court and the Court of Appeal, but appear most regularly in mediations through MBIE and the Employment Relations Authority.
- A Council Member of the Auckland District Law Society, from 2019 to 2023. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt

Why me?
I focus on smart, strategic and pragmatic solutions to employment problems, for employers and employees alike.
The practice of employment law should not be rocket science. Achieving the best outcome for my clients generally comes down to applying sound judgment and common sense, whilst leveraging over thirty years of practical experience. This also means putting aside the ego and emotion and concentrating on the issues. Often this is easier said than done.
My principle goal is to maximise outcomes for my clients through negotiation and mediation, wherever this is possible, and so avoid expensive court proceedings. However, where that does not prove possible, then you will be assured of a staunch and motivated advocate. I do not like to lose, and my track record speaks to this.
I do not employ junior lawyers - if you engage me then you have the assurance of knowing that I will be handling your case from start to finish.
